Mayor Lori Lightfoot Endorses Mac LeBuhn for Illinois House District 12
CHICAGO (November 10, 2025) — Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot endorsed Mac LeBuhn for Illinois State House District 12.
"Mac came as a volunteer to my campaign and stayed to be one of my administration's most important policy advisors,” said Mayor Lori Lightfoot. “While I was polling in the low single digits, I got to know him when we knocked on doors together, fought back against petition challenges and kept believing that people really wanted an independent, good government candidate."
“I trusted Mac with some of my administration's most important policy initiatives like ethics reform, expanding protections for our immigrant neighbors, and housing affordability. I know Mac to be smart, creative and hard working. He is a great husband, dad and loyal friend. I know he will be your independent voice in Springfield. If you want results, and are tired of the same old, same old, Mac's your guy. I trust him and so can you."
As Senior Policy Advisor in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Administration, Mac helped initiatives to expand affordable housing, strengthen worker protections, grow Chicago’s economy, and make city government more transparent. He also played a critical role in rewriting Chicago’s Welcoming City Ordinance, strengthening protections for immigrant families across the city.
“I’m deeply honored to have Mayor Lightfoot’s endorsement,’ said Mac LeBuhn. “I’ve seen her fight for fairness and accountability, even when it wasn’t easy, and I’m inspired to carry on the same spirit to Springfield.”
